About This Course

Given the increasing popularity of the Miyawaki Forest Technique and its key benefits, the Government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP) has mandated the development of Miyawaki forests by Industries, Projects, and Commercial organisations.

Various industries and projects have to develop Miyawaki Forests and some Industries are voluntarily coming forward for it. They look up to the Forest Department for Technical Support. This necessitates creation of a pool of Miyawaki Forest Certified Professionals (MFCPs) so that the technical resorurce is available locally. This initiative of the DoEF&CC will also help in developing Green Skills among individuals and organizations.

Willing individuals/organizations of UP will be imparted a structured training by DoEFCC, GoUP. After successful completion of training, they will be empanelled as Miyawaki Forest Certified Professionals (MFCPs) by the Directorate of Environment,UP. These MFCPs may provide technical support at the local level under the guidance of DFOs. The names and contact details of these MFCPs will be available on the UP Miyawaki Helpline in the UP Environment and Climate Change Knowledge Portal(UPECCKP) so that they may be contacted for technical support on honorarium basis.Honararia will be provided by the beneficiary project/industry. The terms and conditions of services of the MFCPs will be available on the Helpline.

Mr. Maneesh Mittal IFS

Maneesh Mittal is a member of India Forest Service born to UP cadre of 2005 batch. He has a strong technical and practical educational background from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, Forest Research Institute, Deemed University (Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy), Dehradun and Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun.

He has a proven record of successful execution at different positions as District Head of Forests at Gorakhpur, Mirzapur, Baghpat, Meerut, Mathura and Agra. In addition, he has also being Protected Area Manager of Sohelwa Wildlife Sanctuary, Hastinapur Wildlife Sanctuary, Chambal bird sanctuary and Endangered Species Project. Presently, he is working in Uttar Pradesh Forest Corporation as Regional Manager looking after Forest certification, Eco-tourism and collection/logging/sales of timber and MFP.

He has successfully engaged with different stakeholders like local community and Institutes of repute like JICA in the fields of Bio-diversity conservation, Forestry and wildlife conservation, Joint Forest Management, Eco development, Community based conservation and Pollution control. He has extensive experience of plantation activities and has also successfully undertaken Miyawaki Plantation in Agra in the precinct of world heritage monument Taj Mahal.

Dr. Ravi Kumar Singh IFS

Dr. Ravi Kumar Singh is an Officer of Indian Forest Service 2010 batch. He is a graduate from Agra University and Post Graduate and Doctorate from Dayalbagh Deemed University, Agra with Fellowship from CSIR New Delhi. He has worked in the field of Genetics of Amphibians for pursuit of his doctorate. As a member of IFS, he has vast experience of natural resource management sector and plantation forestry while working as Divisional Forest Officer Bahraich and Ayodhya. During his tenure in Ayodhya, he has contributed for development of SOP for Miyawaki technique along with cost estimation.

Dr. Singh is now posted as DFO Awadh (Lucknow). In year 2020, Miyawaki Plantations were taken up in Lucknow by all major departments like Nagar Nigam, LDA and NHAI under his technical guidance with collaboration of UPPCB Lucknow. At Present, He is working with UPPCB and TERI New Delhi on different models related to greening-paving for control of AQI of City.

Mahaveer Koujalagi IFS

Mahaveer Koujalagi is a member of India Forest Service, 2010 batch. He has done his graduation in Agriculture and Masters in Genetics and Plant Breeding. He is an alumnus of University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, Karnataka. As an IFS officer he has vast experience ranging from Protected Area Manager in Dudhwa Tiger Reserve to Divisional Forest Officer in Varanasi. He has experience of working in different agro-climatic conditions from Braj (Mathura), Western Gangetic Plain (Kasganj), Tarai (Lakhimpur), Eastern Gangetic Plains (Varanasi), Vindhyan hills range (Chandauli) in the field of forestry and wildlife management. He has worked extensively for conservation of Endangered Species and for bringing out best practices in wildlife management. Apart from regular plantations, he has also made special efforts in Entire Tree Translocation, Tall Tree Winter Plantation in submergence prone areas. He was also instrumental in successfully raising Miyawaki Plantations at various locations in Varanasi including at riparian and waterlogged areas.

The services of Mr Mahaveer Koujalagi has been recognized and has received Certificate of Appreciation by Dy CM, UP for extra ordinary contribution to the conservation of wildlife and management of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. He has also achieved Certificate of appreciation by Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, New Delhi for his exemplary works in wildlife crime control and enforcement.

Sanjay Kumar Biswal IFS

Sanjay Kumar Biswal is a member of Indian Forest Service, 2012 batch. He has done his graduation in Science from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar and Masters in Forestry from Forest Research Institute (IGNFA), Deemed University Dehradun. He has a special inclination towards plants sciences and has done study on natural vegetation of Himalayan region, especially around Dehradun and Mussourie.

As an IFS officer he has vast experience ranging from Protected Area Manager in Katerniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary and South Kheri forest division where he has worked in the field of Man-wildlife conflict, eco-tourism, community participation and conservation of aquatic species. He also has wide experience in social forestry, nursery management and involvement of local community in agro-forestry during his tenure as Divisional Forest Officer, Mau. He also has to his credit introduction of new species in nursery such as Dalbergia latifolia, Melia Dubia.
